ARTIST STATEMENT

I create art that is expressive with a focus on using pleasing colours and composition. I draw in a variety of media, paint in acrylic, watercolour and mixed media. I predominantly paint figures in a landscape and portraits but also enjoy painting wildlife and nature scapes. I am interested in the different and subtle ways that various media textures can be applied expressively on canvas and paper.

I always like to thoughtfully plan the composition of my work with an emphasis on making best use of contrast and illumination but my best works take on a life of their own and convey a sense of mystery.
